The province of Ontario launched a public education campaign to help people recognize the signs of abuse and know what action to take in June 2006. The Neighbours, Friends and Families Campaign is rolling out in communities across Ontario. The campaign includes new resources on How to Talk to Men Who are Abusive, Safety Planning for Women Who are Abused, and How You can Identify and Help Women at Risk of Abuse. "Hope for a New Generation" is the theme of this year's annual National Day of Rememberance and Action on Violence Against Women on December 6th in Owen Sound. We remember the 14 women who died in Montreal and committ to action and change to end violence against women. The Public Memorial begins at 6:30 at Division Street United Church (997 4th Ave. East). At 7:30 there will be a Concert with Evalyn Parry, a passionate singer, songwriter and spoken word poet, who will challenge and carry the audience away. Entry by donation.
